World Cup Series - Nantes
TOGETHER WITH
Rugby on Display - By Andrew Forde
The best offloads, the best tackles, and the best tries all in one place. We love watching Andrew’s content for exactly these reasons. Plus, he’s Welsh.
Whilst his Irish rugby content is the best to watch, I may be biased, I am also partial to sitting down and enjoying the past Rugby World Cup highlights on his channel currently:
If you want to check out the teams that are on display in Nantes, head over to Andrew’s channel and you’ll see some of their best tries to date. Teams playing in Nantes include Wales, Argentina, Ireland, Tonga, Chile, Georgia, and Japan. Fixtures can be found here.
Check out his Twitter/X and Instagram for some quality rugby content. That’s rugby compilations. That’s Andrew Forde.
Best Place to Stay in Nantes
A residential area in close proximity to the city and is home to many salubrious locals.
As with any city, there are good and bad parts to it. Smack bang in the centre you will have to have your wits about you. Whereas with Clanclaux, you are close to all of the pubs and restaurants below and don’t feel like you have to check your back pocket every ten seconds.
Especially around Commerce in the city centre. Alun Wyn knows what I mean:

Stade de la Beaujoire
A similar distance to the stadium in Saint-Etienne, you can expect a 30-minute tram journey.
The stadium is only 5 kilometres from the city centre if you feel like a stroll beforehand. Beer in hand, of course.
The Little Barrel is a beer hall located close to the stadium with lots of potential. If this doesn’t take your fancy, there are ample supermarkets within the vicinity of the stadium to stock up.

Best Breakfast & Coffee in Nantes
What to know:
Classed as the “Temple of Breakfast in Nantes”. This place has a regular feature in the press and for good reason.
You can avail of their savoury and sweet formulas ranging from pancakes, eggs benedict, and what is essentially a French fry-up.
A cold and hot drink along with your dish of choice is all included in their generous formula offering so you are sure to be ready to tackle your World Cup match ahead.
What to get:
Handy PDJ avec saucisse - the closest thing you will get to your Irish or English breakfast en Francais.
Arno Boulangerie
What to know:
A bakery with as many awards as they have locals frequenting them on a daily basis.
Best Croissant, Best Flan, and Best Bakery in France are some of their accolades.
Jaysus, Nantes has it all. The best bakery and you get to see the Irish playing all in one city. Hope the Guinness lives up to the food.
What to get:
Flan and croissant. Both are award-winning.
Other recommendations
Morfal - Remixing your classic pita and stuffing it full of shawarma with a touch of style and finesse. Popular amongst critics and is a very simple street-food offering to sober you up en route the match.
Café Penché - Instead of frantically googling “best coffee near me”, just head here. Your friend or other half are bound to be satisfied with this cafe and the flat whites they are firing out. No oat milk, please.
