Fast Facts About Saracens to Know for Your Matchday

  • Saracens boast a long and storied history. The club was founded in 1876 by a group of London students. 146 years of history right there.

  • Nicknamed “Sarries” and rocking a black and red kit, said to reflect the endurance and strength of medieval warriors (this showed against Harlequins)

  • They won the Premiership in 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2018. They have also experienced success in Europe with Champions Cup titles in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

Current Premiership Standings

  • Currently sitting 3rd in the Premiership and just qualified from the Champions Cup pool stages, placing 4th in the pool.

  • Owen Farrell’s break from international duties appears to be paying dividends for Sarries as he has been playing out of his socks in previous matches. However, his departure to Racing 92, along with Billy Vunipola to Montpellier, mean they will be lacking serious firepower in these pivotal positions. Hopefully, Billy and Mako’s cousin, Manu Vunipola, can step up to take Farrell’s place.

  • Players to keep an eye on the day include Andy Christie, Ben Earl, Billy Vunipola, Elliott Daly, Juan Martin Gonzalez, Maro Itoje and Owen Farrell.
