Fast Facts About London to Know for Your Matchday

  • The O2 Arena in Greenwich, originally known as the Millennium Dome, is so large that it can fit the Great Pyramid of Giza or the Statue of Liberty inside.

  • It might be called the London Underground, but around 55% of it is actually over ground - that's why you might get phone signal at random points in your journey. Only the Victoria and Waterloo & City lines are entirely underground.

  • The Split: Believe it or not, Harlequins have a historical connection to another famous London team – Wasps! In 1867, a disagreement within the Hampstead Football Club (Harlequins' original name) led to a split, with some members forming the Wasps RFC.

Current Premiership Standings

  • There were high hopes after their strong start to the season for Quins, sparking questions about them being genuine title contenders.

  • However, their form seems to have dipped recently, particularly after the Six Nations break. The 52-7 defeat by Saracens was a harsh blow, raising concerns about consistency.

  • Players to keep an eye on the day include Danny Care, Chandler Cunningham-South, Alex Dombrandt, Tyrone Green, Cadan Murley, Marcus Smith and Louis Lynagh.

  • You can find their most recent highlights below (perhaps keep one eye closed):

Best Breakfast & Coffee in London for Before and After the Match

Megan’s - Old Town Hall

  • The grub at Megan's is a testament to creativity and innovation, featuring an enticing selection of mediterranean-style dishes crafted using only the best ingredients.

  • Twickenham is easily accessible from here also with bus routes, taxis and my preferred option, a stroll (albeit 35-minutes). An equally good alternative to here is Bill’s in Richmond. Grab a great hefty fry.

E Pellici - Bethnal Grn Rd

  • E Pellicci isn't your average London cafe. It's a Bethnal Green institution, steeped in history and serving up legendary portions since 1900.

  • Forget fancy frills, E Pellicci focuses on the classics. Their full English breakfast is the star of the show. We're talking perfectly fried eggs, juicy sausages, crisp bacon, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, and fried bread – all on a plate that could double as a frisbee.

Other Recommendations

  • Fortitude Bakery - Easily one of the top bakeries in London right now. Serving up the kind of pastries you can see yourself easily inhaling.

  • Kiss The Hippo - Caffeine, Caffeine, Caffeine. Brilliant coffee spot in Richmond to get you going for the day ahead or, to drag you out of the gutters after a hard night prior.

Is your destination not covered?

Heading on a stag, hen or venturing on an away day? You probably encounter the following:

  1. Your friends leave everything until last minute.

  2. They rely on one person to pick what the entire group is doing and where you are going.

  3. If a place is rubbish, your friends turn to you and never let you forget that woefully bad place you took them.

Well, look no further. If you want an itinerary that is based on prior groups’ memorable experiences and local recommendations, just reply to this email.
